If you're a retail, mall or supermarket, delivery or transport worker, or you work in higher-risk businesses with mask-off activities like F&B, personal care services and gyms, you will have to undergo rostered routine testing (RRT) with employer-supervised self-swabs using Antigen Rapid Test (ART) kits. From Sep 13, 2021, the frequency of testing will increase from once a fortnight to once a week. As part of a trial earlier, two teams at Mediacorp had to self-test with ART kits every two weeks for a month. These tests are overseen by a swab supervisor who has to attend mandatory training. The Talking Point team of 10 did the self-swabs virtually over Zoom. One of the producers, Charmaine Tan, confessed that she didn’t know how to self-swab and that it was “a bit awkward” doing it in front of colleagues. The larger Chinese drama unit of more than 80 people set up a test station within the office. The executive producer said that self-tests provided the assurance of a safe working environment as actors may be unmasked or in close physical proximity while filming. As Singapore transits to an endemic state of living with COVID-19, everyone including vaccinated individuals is encouraged to self-test regularly with ART kits.
