When acting gigs dried up during the pandemic, veteran actor Terence Cao tried his hand at an online food business, Sibay Shiok. Inspired by his mother’s Peranakan recipes, it kicked off with a strong start, serving classic Peranakan dry mee siam. Now that sales have started to slow, Terence wants to expand his repertoire of recipes and add a new dish to his menu. He takes on the challenge to create his version of a Singaporean favourite – rendang.
