For many elementary school students in Korea, becoming a YouTuber is a dream job, with a 2019 survey indicating it is the third most popular desired job for young Koreans. However, recent scandals involving allegations that many YouTubers are “deceiving” fans by not being upfront about paid promotions in videos have resulted in public apologies or even resignations from the platform. We hit the streets of Seoul to find out what Koreans think about this issue and about becoming a YouTuber.
