Even as restaurants shut down in response to the novel coronavirus, we still wanted to profile some of our favorite places and check in on what they're facing during this challenging time. We caught up with one of New York City's most loved cookie spots, Maman, on its famous nutty chocolate chip cookie and the cafe's plans for the future. Since the city limited service to pick-up and delivery orders, Maman's co-owner, Elisa Marshall, initially decided to close several shops. The owners started a staff fund to help out employees, but ultimately made the decision on March 30 to close all shops until further notice in order to keep workers and customers safe.
