An #RTD crew sets out on a journey to meet #Agafia Lykova, a hermit living in deepest Siberia. She was born 75 years ago in her family's lodge deep in the Siberian taiga and has never left it, not even after the last of her family died almost three decades ago. Agafia belongs to the #Russian Old Believers – Orthodox Christians who split from the main church after reforms in the 17th century. Religious persecution forced, many of the old faithful, including Agafia's ancestors, to flee to the most remote corners of the country. Foul weather hampers the crew's progress towards Agafia's forest home. No one can say how long will it take them to cover the 300 km over raging rivers and dense woods. In tomorrow's episode (February 27th): how a team of geologists discovered the Lykov family in the '70s. 01:13 – "I've lived all alone for 27 years." 04:53 – "At first, I thought they were pious people, but then I found out about certain things that had happened in their lives". 06:04 – "The Abakan river burst its banks and, by all accounts, we won't get to Agafia this time". 09:06 – "First they fled persecution, then collective farms and communism". 09:26 – Agafia's take on the schism within the Russian Orthodox Church SUBSCRIBE TO RTD Channel to get documentaries firsthand! http://bit.ly/1MgFbVy FOLLOW US RTD WEBSITE: https://RTD.rt.com/ RTD ON TWITTER: http://twitter.com/RT_DOC RTD ON FACEBOOK: https://ift.tt/1g74n7S RTD ON INSTAGRAM https://ift.tt/2OcbhMs RTD LIVE https://ift.tt/1rTs9LE
