Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, son of the late Filipino dictator, has claimed a resounding win in the Philippines’ presidential election, with double of the votes of his closest rival Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo. His father and namesake was known to be a corrupt dictator who was ousted in a ‘People Power Revolution’ or ESDA in 1986. The Marcos family, which was reported to have siphoned billions from the public purse among other things, fled into exile in Hawaii. But Bongbong and his sister Imee returned to local Philippine politics in the 1990s.
