Advancing gender equality remains one of the biggest global challenges. Despite progress in educating, employing and empowering women, many still do not enjoy equal rights, access to opportunities, and safety from violence. COVID-19 has underscored such inequalities, amid a rise in women's unpaid care work, gender-based violence, and the pandemic's disproportionate economic impact on women.
