In 2021, Wild Rice’s The Amazing Celestial Race was the first musical to open in Singapore since the pandemic. This year they are bring it back with a bang. But Safe Management Measures limited the number of cast and crew, key personnel stuck overseas due to VTL suspensions and oft-changing COVID-19 regulations, staging a play is more complex than ever. As opening day looms, Singapore’s daily Omicron cases continue to creep up, and the threat of COVID restrictions hangs over the production.
