On 23 May 2017, ISIS-linked Filipino militants invaded Philippine’s southern city of Marawi. They took hundreds of civilians as hostage while others fled the city for their own survival. What followed next was a five-month long urban warfare between the militants and the government forces. The siege left the entire city in ruins as a result of the clashes and periodic bombings. More than 1000 people were killed and at least 350,000 made homeless. Four years after the siege, how are the victims coping? What does their future look like?
