He Lost His Income, Then Sank Into Depression. An Exotic Dancer's Fight To Get Back On Track




Pre-COVID-19, Syazwan Rahmad had a stable income as a freelance exotic performer, choreographer and instructor. But when nightlife and entertainment outlets were shut in February 2020 to prevent community spread of the coronavirus, Syazwan lost the biggest source of his income. The circuit breaker from April to June 2020 made things worse. Being cooped up in a small flat with the family strained his relationship with them, and he began to spiral into depression.
