Despite a slew of national campaigns since 2003, Singaporeans by and large still can’t seem to be able to return their trays. In response, new initiatives, like the automated tray return system has been introduced in several hawker centres where diners pay a 50 cents or 1 dollar deposit to take a food tray. But still, many diners are leaving dirty trays behind.
