South Sudan is the newest state on the world map, but since achieving independence, the pain and suffering endured by its population have been relentless. Unending armed conflicts, famine, flooding, disease are killing hundreds of thousands and stopping them from having a normal life. Among the few islands of safety are the Red Cross stations dotted around the country. There people can get not just medical treatment, but also food... Many of those who turn up at the Red Cross have gone for several days without food. This is a short version of our full-length feature on South Sudan, which was filmed in 2017.
