As India grapples with soaring coronavirus infections and a prolonged lockdown, unusually intense monsoon rains have also led to flooding across the country - even in desert regions like Rajasthan - that has left millions homeless. Extreme weather events have been worsening in India because of climate change and global warming, scientists believe. And it's the poor who are bearing the brunt of the impact. India is the world's third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to go "above and beyond" the 2015 Paris climate agreement.
