In a turn of phrase that would have made Doctor Strange proud, Sayers wondered if the conditions of the modern world had made humans “susceptible to the influence of advertisement and mass propaganda to an extent hitherto unheard of and unimagined.” Censorship- If you don’t fall inline with the narrative, you will very very likely be silenced. I’m not referring to inciting violence, I’m talking about presenting ideas and solutions that allow for the disruption of long standing, highly profitable, very political systems. Profits the big company FAR more than those participating on the platform. Individuals trying to earn an income from YouTube and are relying on revenue generated by advertisements are only seeing a minuscule fraction of what YouTube and the advertisers are earning. It’s a lopsided affair and the end users foot the bill by paying with their valuable attention. A world where passive income, streaming money is getting closer to a reality, decentralized platforms cater and encourage this. Big centralized companies will not give up their profits, too much overhead let alone their pride. WHAT IS NEEDED: - IPFS, Filecoin. Decentralized file sharing and storage. - Decentralized Domain Names You can prove ownership without disclosing your personal information. This is done using cryptographic keys. The decentralized factor comes into play regarding how that particular domain name is hosted. On a centralized server? (This is how normal websites are hosted) it’s also how quite a few hacks take place. To bring it home for the crypto crowd, if you were around in 2017 for the Etherdelta Hack, and shortly thereafter, the myetherwallet hack, you’d know that a hacker was able to gain control of the website and make changes in order to take advantage of the information being given by users of that website. - Unstoppable domains is a popular options for decentralized domain names BUT with the implementation of “human readable” addresses, it makes tracking your activity VERY easy, thus sacrificing your privacy. ANY instance where there are these personalized addresses, you are personally choosing to give up all privacy for the sake of making receiving transactions only slightly easier. This is particularly true if you are using your name as an address. It’s easy enough to track you if you choose any “human readable” address, but if you use your name, it’s really just ridiculous in the eyes of someone who values the ability to keep your financial life and activities private. The ability to prove ownership of these decentralized domains without giving up your personal information is really great, but the implementation of these personalized addresses kind of makes it redundant, again, especially if you choose to use your name whether it be for your domain name or for your crypto addresses. - Currently I know that you can use the web browser Opera on an Android devices to browse Unstoppable domain sites, and it there is also a google chrome extension that allows for this as well, but let’s be honest, a Google chrome extension for anything involving the use of cryptocurrencies is not an ideal option. - One tool that these decentralized domains and applications will need is a search engine.
