When our film crews travel to the world’s most remote places, local producers, aka fixers, are oftentimes vital. Bernard Kalume Buleri from the Democratic Republic of Congo helps reporters and filmmakers navigate through the bush. He also has an incredible story to share. Bernard saw his country fall into turmoil after it gained independence from Belgium, so he walked 1,000 km to Rwanda, where he became a successful musician. Sadly, he later lost his Tutsi wife in the Rwandan genocide and returned to Congo after nearly being executed himself. RT Documentary’s Anastasia Trofimova catches up with Bernard to see he's fared since Congo, My Precious was filmed.
