At Kopitiam, you can try traditional Malaysian dishes, and experience traditional Malaysian coffee shop culture. Kopitiam is co-owned and operated by Chef Kyo Pang, a Malaysian refugee who has taken asylum in the United States, as it is illegal to be queer in her home country. A majority of the trinkets in Kopitiam, as well as some ingredients, are from Malaysia, purchased by her family and shipped to NYC.
